The ELPIDA Foundation Guesthouse was built very close to the Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Unit of the Archbishop Makarios III Hospital. It is a pioneering charitable project of continuous support, unique of its kind in Cyprus, established by the ELPIDA Foundation for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia.
The Guesthouse began operating in 1996 and provides free accommodation to families while their children undergo treatment at the hospital, often for many months. Families find in the Guesthouse a safe place to stay, rest and regain their strength, protecting them from many of the difficulties associated with the demanding treatments their children must endure.
Long-term accommodation and other forms of support are provided free of charge to children with cancer and leukaemia and their families.
The Guesthouse is a welcoming and attractive facility with spacious family rooms, each with four beds and private bathroom facilities. It also includes a large kitchen, a dining area, children’s play areas, a spacious courtyard and a garden.
In addition, the ELPIDA Foundation provides the continuous daily services of a social worker at the Guesthouse. The Foundation has employed the social worker for the past 22 years.
